This is a filmmaking tour, not a ride park

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter presents the production craft behind the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films through sets, costumes, props, visual effects and interactive activities. The visit begins in a timed group sequence, then becomes self-guided.

Major environments include the Great Hall, Platform 9¾, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest and Tokyo’s exclusive Ministry of Magic set. Interactive elements include moving portraits, Quidditch, chimney travel and broom effects; some souvenir photographs or videos cost extra.

Do not describe every large environment as a set physically used during filming. The collection includes authentic costumes and props, while original filmmakers recreated major environments specifically for the Tokyo tour. Visitors expecting roller coasters or thrill rides should choose a different attraction.

What to know

Allow three to four hours—or a half-day

The operator’s FAQ estimates three to four hours. Klook suggests three to five. There is no stated short session limit once the self-guided portion begins, but visitors must finish by that day’s closing time.

A fan who reads production details, uses interactive stations, eats at the midpoint and shops can spend a half-day. A three-hour slot before closing is much riskier than a morning or early-afternoon entry because the route, cafés and shops cannot remain open after the building closes.

The tour is primarily one-way and re-entry is not allowed. Buy food or shop at the appropriate point rather than assuming you can walk back freely after reaching a later zone.

Official ticket prices from July 1, 2026

The operator introduced date-variable general pricing from July 1, 2026. Adult tickets for age 18 and over are ¥6,600–7,300, Junior tickets for ages 12–17 are ¥5,500–6,000, and Child tickets for ages 4–11 are ¥4,000–4,400.

Children aged zero to three enter free but still need a free dated ticket. When buying through Klook, the infant ticket must currently be issued separately through the official site and remains subject to availability. Do not arrive with only an adult voucher and assume an unregistered infant can be added.

An official package that adds the digital guide and souvenir guidebook ranges from ¥10,080–10,780 for adults, ¥8,980–9,480 for Juniors and ¥7,480–7,880 for children. Compare the same extras: a lower general ticket is not the same product.

Child supervision rules

Children aged zero to 11 must be accompanied and supervised by a visitor aged 18 or over. The official terms allow ages 12–17 to visit without an adult, but a family should still decide whether a young teenager can manage the journey, crowds and long self-guided route alone.

Every visitor needs the correct dated ticket, including a free infant. A stroller can be borrowed in limited numbers, but availability is not guaranteed. Enter all paid ages correctly and obtain the infant ticket before the selected tour fills.

The exhibition includes darkness, sudden sound and flashing effects. Adult supervision should focus on the child’s comfort as well as ticket eligibility.

Arrive before the reserved tour time

Ticket holders can generally enter the lobby from 60 minutes before the reserved tour. For the first tour of the day, lobby access begins about 30 minutes before. That early period can be used for security, toilets, the Food Hall, Frog Café, the Studio Shop or the limited lockers.

The operator’s direct terms ask visitors to begin within 30 minutes of the booked time. After that, staff may offer the next available start when capacity permits, but it is not guaranteed and can fail for the last tour. This is an exception process, not a planning buffer.

Klook says guests arriving outside the reserved time cannot participate. Follow the stricter Klook condition when holding its voucher: be at the entrance at least 30 minutes early and do not rely on the operator moving the booking.

What to know

Opening and closing times vary by day

The official calendar currently sells dates through December 31, 2026, but the building opening, first tour, final tour and closing time are not fixed. Examples on the current calendar range from an 08:30 opening and 21:00 close to a 10:30 opening and 19:00 close.

Use the exact date in the official calendar and the time on the voucher. A generic search result for “opening hours” can describe a different day. The closing time matters even with a valid late tour because it limits the self-guided portion.

The safest choice for a first visit is morning or early afternoon. It leaves time for delays from central Tokyo and allows the tour, food, photographs and shopping without racing the final zones.

What to know

Current Invitation from Hogwarts feature

The current promotional artwork highlights Invitation from Hogwarts, scheduled from March 18 through September 6, 2026. It is a seasonal Studio Tour Tokyo feature rather than the permanent name of the attraction.

Travel after September 6 should not expect the same Sorting Hat presentation or campaign material. Check the operator’s current events and the live Klook package rather than buying from an old social image.

The main studio tour remains broader than one feature. Sets, costumes, props and filmmaking explanations—not the limited campaign alone—should determine whether the ticket is worth the half-day.

What to know

Toshimaen access from Ikebukuro or Shinjuku

From Ikebukuro, the Seibu Ikebukuro and Toshima lines reach Toshimaen directly in about 17 minutes, followed by an approximately two-minute walk. From Shinjuku, the Toei Oedo Line takes about 20 minutes to Toshimaen, then the facility is about three minutes away.

Confirm that the Seibu train actually continues to Toshimaen rather than another branch. On the Oedo Line, keep enough time for deep platforms and station exits. The official address is 1-1-7 Kasugacho, Nerima-ku, Tokyo.

From March 1, 2026, a Haneda Airport limousine service toward Hikarigaoka and Nerima includes a stop in front of the facility on eligible services. A flight-linked bus is not a reason to schedule a non-refundable studio ticket tightly after landing.

What to know

Parking must be booked in advance

The on-site car park is limited and requires advance reservation. The current official price is ¥2,000. Klook and older pages can still show ¥1,800, so use the operator’s live parking purchase rather than a cached marketplace detail.

Public transport is the operator’s recommended arrival method. A car can help a family, but a timed attraction ticket does not create a parking space automatically.

Allow road-delay time and confirm the car park’s entry conditions before paying. A late drive does not change Klook’s reserved-tour requirement.

What to know

English digital guide and guidebook options

The current digital guide costs ¥1,480 and supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Collect and return the device at the on-site counter. Completing content at more than 10 designated guide points currently earns a souvenir badge.

The official souvenir guidebook is available in English or Japanese for ¥2,500. The operator’s staffed guided tour is Japanese-only, so international visitors who want a guaranteed English supplement should select the English digital guide rather than assume an English human tour.

The digital product is not an audio-description service for blind or low-vision visitors. Contact Visitor Services when accessible interpretation is essential.

What to know

Wheelchairs, companions and sensory effects

A visitor with a valid paid ticket and accepted disability proof can receive one free companion ticket under the official accessibility policy. The Japanese operator guidance recognizes comparable overseas proof, but an international visitor should confirm the document before travel.

Manual and powered wheelchairs are allowed; powered mobility scooters and carts are not. Limited manual wheelchairs and strollers can be borrowed, and accessible toilets and seating are available. An assistance dog recognized under Japanese law can enter.

Some areas use sudden loud sound and strobe effects. Staff may help a visitor avoid particular effects, but the operator does not currently publish a complete sensory guide, ear-defender loan or dedicated quiet room. Contact Visitor Services and bring personal hearing protection when necessary.

What to know

Photography, video and costumes

Personal handheld photography and short video are allowed in most areas. Photography is prohibited at security, the pre-show cinema, green-screen stations, toilets, changing areas and any location marked by staff or signage.

Flash, tripods, monopods, freestanding equipment, extra lights, live streaming and commercial filming are prohibited. The latest operator policy permits a short selfie stick or gimbal held below head height, while Klook says selfie sticks are prohibited. A handheld phone or compact camera is the lowest-risk choice.

Harry Potter-inspired clothing is welcome when safe. Clothing cannot trail on the floor, include dangerous decoration, create excessive exposure, require bare feet or make a visitor look like a staff member. Face coverings must be removed for security when requested.

The staffed cloakroom ended on June 1, 2026

The newer official facilities page says the staffed cloakroom ceased operation on June 1, 2026. Some older arrival guidance still mentions it; follow the dated facilities update. Large luggage should be left at the hotel or another confirmed facility.

A limited number of free outdoor lockers remain. Published internal sizes are 930 × 350 × 555 mm for Large, 775 × 350 × 575 mm for Medium and 290 × 350 × 555 mm for Small. They use a refundable ¥100 coin, and the venue does not provide change.

A locker dimension is not an availability promise. Do not bring a flight-sized suitcase expecting the last large locker to be empty. Store luggage before traveling to Toshimaen when admission depends on the timed slot.

What to know

Food, butterbeer and allergy limits

The lobby has the Food Hall and Frog Café, while the tour route includes the Backlot Café and Butterbeer Bar. The butterbeer is non-alcoholic. Eating can add substantial time, especially at popular lunch periods.

Outside food and drink are generally prohibited, with exceptions for baby food, young-child snacks and food required for an allergy or another special need. Sealed bottles and containers are permitted. Water stations are available, but visitors need their own bottle because paper cups are not supplied.

English allergen sheets are available. Shared equipment, utensils and frying oil mean the kitchens cannot guarantee zero cross-contact. A vegetarian or low-allergen label does not automatically certify a meal as vegan, halal or safe for celiac disease.

What to know

Shop before leaving each part of the one-way route

The lobby Studio Shop sells Tokyo-exclusive items, wands, confectionery and personalization products and can be used before or after the tour. The Railway Shop appears at Platform 9¾ inside the route and should be used when reached because backtracking is limited.

There is no on-site ATM, home-delivery service or tax-free shopping under the current official shop guidance. Bring a working payment method and leave suitcase space for anything purchased.

Interactive photo and video products can also add cost. Decide a souvenir budget before entry rather than treating the base admission as the complete visit total.

What to know

Official ticket or Klook?

Klook is listed by the attraction as an authorized distributor and offers an English interface, USD display and occasional shopping, eSIM or other promotional extras. Prices and inclusions vary by date, age, inventory, exchange rate and campaign, so compare the final total rather than one “from” amount.

Official direct tickets can currently be moved to another eligible date and time before the original booking begins for ¥1,500 per ticket, subject to the operator’s conditions. Klook marks its Studio Tour Tokyo tickets non-cancellable, non-refundable and non-changeable. The direct rule does not transfer to a Klook voucher.

The official site is also simpler for adding a free infant ticket in the same order and offers a wider set of guide or meal products. Klook can be preferable when its English checkout, USD amount and selected package suit the trip. Neither channel should be booked until the long half-day slot is protected.

What to know

A low-risk half-day plan

Choose a morning or early-afternoon tour, then reserve the exact age and any guide extras. Store large luggage elsewhere, download the voucher and route, and arrive 30 minutes early—or roughly 60 minutes early when eating or shopping before the timed start.

Complete the group introduction, move through the self-guided route without trying to backtrack, and use the midpoint café only when the closing time leaves enough hours. Purchase from the Railway Shop when you reach it.

Leave the lobby shop for the end when possible, but do not schedule another strict reservation immediately afterward. A relaxed four-hour visit is a better use of a non-changeable ticket than rushing an expensive film experience.
