Do this now

Follow these steps in order.

  1. 01

Capture the full confirmation or error screen with date and time.

  2. 02

Check the official account, email and spam folder for a reservation number.

  3. 03

Check whether the card shows a pending authorization or completed charge.

  4. 04

Contact the operator before creating a duplicate booking.

What to know

A charge is not always a confirmed reservation

Card authorization and booking completion are separate events. A pending amount can appear even when the reservation was not completed, while some valid bookings may take time to appear in email.

What to know

Use the original booking channel

An operator may not be able to change a reservation sold by a third-party platform. Record which website or app took the payment and use that service’s official support and cancellation rules.

What to know

Keep names and identifiers exact

Passenger or guest names, email address, phone format and booking reference help support locate the record. Never send full card details through an unverified email or social-media account.

If that does not work

Use the fallback.

  • Ask the provider to confirm in writing whether the booking exists.
  • If travel is imminent, ask support what safe alternative they recommend before paying again.
  • For a disputed or duplicated card transaction, follow your issuer’s official process.

Before you need it

Save this offline.

  • Provider name and official support page
  • Reservation number
  • Guest or passenger name
  • Error screenshot
  • Charge status and amount
  • Cancellation deadline
