Before you book
Make these decisions in order.
- 01
Open Harmonyland’s official calendar for your exact date; reseller opening-hour summaries can lag behind the live schedule.
- 02
Choose your train and bus connections in both directions before buying, then save the limited return timetable offline.
- 03
Check the daily show, greeting and ride-operation pages because admission does not guarantee a particular character or attraction.
- 04
Compare the Klook one-day passport with official date-based, afternoon and eligible discount tickets before accepting a non-refundable booking.
What to know
Why Harmonyland can justify a day outside the major cities
Harmonyland is Sanrio’s outdoor character park in the countryside of Hiji, beside Beppu in Oita Prefecture. The appeal is not simply collecting rides. A good day combines Hello Kitty and other character greetings, stage shows, pastel attractions, scenic outdoor areas, themed food and limited merchandise without returning to Tokyo.
The open-air setting creates a different experience from the largely indoor Sanrio Puroland. It gives photographers more daylight, landscape and large-scale color, while families can alternate between character experiences and rides. The trade-off is greater exposure to rain, wind, lightning and summer heat.
What to know
Important location check: Harmonyland is in Oita, not Fukuoka
The park’s address is 5933 Fujiwara, Hiji, Hayami District, Oita Prefecture. Some reseller URLs include “Fukuoka,” but the attraction is not in Fukuoka City or Fukuoka Prefecture. Treat it as an Oita or Beppu itinerary day.
Travelers based in Beppu or Oita can combine a JR train with a local bus or taxi. From Fukuoka, the journey first requires reaching the Oita side of Kyushu and then transferring locally, so an overnight stay is usually more sensible than describing Harmonyland as a quick city excursion.
What to know
Why 2026 is a special year to visit
Harmonyland is marking its 35th anniversary from April 24, 2026 with anniversary costumes, music, greetings, decorations, food and merchandise. Seasonal programs add another reason to choose a date intentionally rather than buying an open voucher and deciding later.
For current planning, the official site lists its summer program from July 3 to September 15, 2026, an Oita digital stamp rally from July 17 to September 23, and Harmonyland Halloween from September 18 to November 10. Event content, characters and operating times can change, so use these dates as a planning trigger and confirm the day’s calendar before travel.
What to know
Official passport prices and what admission does not cover
Harmonyland currently applies date-based day-passport prices of ¥3,600 or ¥4,200 for every guest aged four and over; children under four enter free. The official online-only afternoon passport, valid from 14:00, is listed at ¥2,200 or ¥2,800. These prices were checked on July 25, 2026.
The Klook product is a one-day passport, not the official afternoon ticket. A standard passport also does not mean every optional experience or seat is free. Harmonyland lists separate charges for some attractions and priority products; for example, the Sky Pal Collection attraction costs ¥500, and selected parade viewing or early-entry products are sold separately.
Official student and birthday passports are listed at ¥3,100 or ¥3,700, while senior, maternity and disability rates are ¥2,600 or ¥3,200. Proof and purchase rules differ: maternity and disability tickets are handled at the gate with original documents, while other discounts have their own conditions. The official page does not clearly confirm every foreign document format, so ask the park before relying on a discount.
What to know
Hours, closed days and daily schedules must be checked separately
Harmonyland does not use one permanent weekly timetable. The official calendar changes by date and shows closed days, regular operating days and occasional evening hours. Final admission is normally one hour before the listed closing time.
Klook’s current page still displays a general Wednesday-and-Thursday closure summary containing exceptions from late 2025 and January 2026. Harmonyland’s official July 2026 calendar, however, shows some Wednesdays and Thursdays open. Use the official calendar as the controlling source for the visit date, then check Klook only for the voucher conditions.
The attraction-operation page and live-show calendar are separate checks. Rides can finish accepting guests before the park closes, timed greetings can run out of digital tickets, and a particular show is never guaranteed merely because the gate is open.
What to know
Plan character greetings and shows before rides
The official schedule describes a welcome greeting for roughly the first 20 minutes after opening. It does not allow guests to line up for a side-by-side photo at that specific welcome greeting. Other character experiences, including the Character Greeting Fun Studio, can use a daily schedule or limited digital ticket.
Character Greeting Fan Studio moved to a smartphone-based digital ticket system in June 2026. Bring a charged phone and working data connection, then follow the current official instructions when the day opens; limited tickets can run out. Separate same-day Harmony Pass products for selected attractions are not advance reservations and can have variable prices and no-change rules.
Open the day-specific schedule before leaving your hotel and choose one or two character priorities. Regular shows are generally free, but some performances or reserved viewing areas are paid. Admission alone does not reserve a view, and weather can cancel an outdoor performance.
A practical sequence is to arrive before opening, check greeting or show access first, then fit nearby rides and meals around those fixed times. This protects the part of the day that most Sanrio fans would regret missing.
What to know
Rain, wind and heat can materially change the value
Harmonyland remains usable in light rain, but the official FAQ identifies several rides that do not operate in rain, including Rhythmic Coaster, Harmony Train, Angel Coaster and Water Shot. Other attractions may continue, while Sky Jet can leave riders wet.
Wind, lightning, maintenance and operational conditions can stop additional rides. Outdoor live shows may also be cancelled in bad weather. Check the same-day operation page before setting out and avoid buying solely for one ride or performance.
In summer, carry water, sun protection and a weather-safe phone battery plan. Move indoor character and dining stops into the hottest or wettest part of the day, but do not assume Harmonyland offers the same all-weather protection as an indoor theme park.
What to know
How to reach Harmonyland by train and bus
Harmonyland’s official access page directs rail travelers to local buses marked as operating via Harmonyland from JR Yokoku Station or JR Kitsuki Station. The number of useful departures is limited enough that the return bus should be chosen before the outward journey.
From Beppu or Oita, use the JR Nippo Main Line toward Yokoku or Kitsuki, then transfer to the listed Kokuto Kanko Bus service or a taxi. Confirm the current JR and bus times for the actual weekday; do not build the plan around a generic map estimate.
Save the Japanese stop names, the park address and a taxi alternative offline. A missed final practical bus can erase any ticket saving and create a difficult end to an otherwise relaxed day.
What to know
A useful Oita Airport option runs through March 2027
The official access page currently lists the direct Harmony Liner between Oita Airport, Kitsuki Station and Harmonyland through March 31, 2027. The airport-to-park fare is ¥1,000 one way, and the service does not run on Harmonyland closed days.
This can turn the park into an arrival-day or departure-day option, but only when the published bus and flight times leave a safe buffer. Check the current timetable and luggage practicality before committing; theme-park admission does not protect you from a missed flight.
Drivers reach the park from Hiji Interchange and Route 10. The official FAQ lists parking at ¥600 for an ordinary car, but current parking notices and payment procedures should be checked before arrival.
What to know
How the Klook ticket works
Klook currently sells one Harmonyland one-day passport at the same price for all ticketed ages, with children under four free. The mobile voucher is listed as valid through May 31, 2027, must be exchanged for a physical ticket, permits same-day re-entry and is non-refundable with no changes. Ask gate staff about re-entry before leaving; the park’s own guidance requires the procedure to be completed before the final-admission cutoff.
As of July 25, 2026, Klook also warns that a Sanrio system issue may prevent the QR-code link inside a voucher from opening. Its listing says guests can still present the Klook voucher without the QR code in that situation. Save the full booking and voucher offline, and contact Klook before travel if the redemption instruction remains unclear.
An open validity period does not override a Harmonyland closure or guarantee a show, ride or event. Check the official calendar first, then compare the final Klook price in USD with the official ticket that applies to your date and eligibility.
What to know
Photography and creator rules
Harmonyland’s FAQ generally allows personal photos and video. Flash is prohibited on the Sanrio Character Boat Ride and whenever staff instruct guests not to use it. Cameras and mobile devices cannot be used while riding Rhythmic Coaster, Angel Coaster or Sky Pal Collection.
The park asks guests to avoid filming that disturbs others, violates the privacy of unrelated guests or identifiable staff, or involves live streaming and other public transmission. A normal admission ticket should not be treated as commercial filming permission.
Creators planning monetized, sponsored or production-style filming should contact Harmonyland before the visit and obtain any permission required for the planned equipment and distribution. Keep tripods and camera movement from blocking queues, paths or show views.
What to know
A realistic half-day-to-full-day plan
Allow about four to six hours inside for a first visit, then add the complete journey from your base. Arrive before opening if a welcome greeting matters, secure any time-sensitive character access, choose two or three weather-safe priorities, and leave room for food and the main shop.
Families should check age, supervision and pregnancy restrictions on individual attractions. Wheelchairs and strollers can enter; official rental prices are currently ¥300 for a wheelchair and ¥500 for a type-A stroller for children from two months to three years and up to 15 kg. Rentals are limited and cannot be reserved.
Travel suitcases must go into a locker. Official prices currently run from ¥200 for a small locker to ¥500 for a large one; oversized items that do not fit can be left at Information for ¥500 each, subject to space. Wheeled carts, wagons and coolers are not allowed. Baby-care facilities are available, but families should still bring essential formula, medication and supplies.
Before leaving the park, check the return bus again rather than assuming the schedule is frequent. Harmonyland is most enjoyable when transport has already been solved and the day can be led by character moments rather than the clock.
