Before you book
Make these decisions in order.
- 01
Match Klook hotel 267387 to North 5 West 6 before comparing any price.
- 02
Choose the room by floor area, bed width, guest count and child arrangement—not by the cheapest headline rate.
- 03
Treat breakfast as a light included meal and plan another hotel if a large hot buffet is a priority.
- 04
Budget the combined Sapporo and Hokkaido accommodation tax and check whether Klook prepays it.
- 05
Check official notices for construction and, for August 30, 2026, the Hokkaido Marathon detour before arrival.
What to know
First, identify the correct JR Inn
JR Inn Sapporo is at North 5 West 6, Chuo-ku, and its official walking route starts at JR Sapporo Station’s West Ticket Gate. The operator also runs JR Inn Sapporo Station South and JR Inn Sapporo North 2, which have different addresses, facilities and current notices.
A search result, map pin or hotel photo containing “JR Inn Sapporo” is therefore not enough. This article and the paid link refer to Klook hotel 267387 at North 5 West 6.
Check the property name, address and map together before payment. A cheap rate at a similarly named branch is not an alternative room in the same building.
What to know
The West Ticket Gate route is the main advantage
The hotel says it is about four minutes on foot from JR Sapporo Station’s West Ticket Gate. Its directions send travelers through the West Exit, past the Hokkaido Sapporo Tourist Information Center and along the road beside Kinokuniya Bookstore.
That route favors airport-train arrivals, JR day trips and travelers continuing elsewhere in Hokkaido. In snow, rain or with suitcases, the real journey can exceed four minutes because the final street section, crossings and construction still matter.
Save the official access page offline before reaching the station. Sapporo Station is a large rail and shopping complex, and following a generic “south exit” instruction can send you toward a different JR Inn.
What to know
Rooms are compact but clearly differentiated
The official English page lists a 15m² Single with one 140cm-by-200cm bed, a 19m² Double with one 160cm-by-200cm bed, and a 26m² Twin with two 120cm-by-200cm beds. The Universal Room is 26m² with a 110cm-by-200cm bed.
A Single can be efficient for one traveler but tight for two adults with winter luggage. A Double adds floor area and bed width, while the Twin is the credible choice for two travelers who need separate beds and more open-bag space.
Do not infer occupancy solely from the number of beds. Enter every adult and child on Klook, then match the room name and maximum occupancy on the final confirmation. Contact the hotel directly for the Universal Room because the official FAQ asks guests to make that request with the property.
What to know
The free breakfast is intentionally light
JR Inn Sapporo’s official description is specific: complimentary breakfast consists of items such as bread, salad, yogurt, coffee and milk. It is served in the first-floor lounge from 06:30 to 09:30, and take-out cups are available for coffee.
Klook’s summary mentions local items, but the hotel’s own current page does not promise a large hot buffet or a menu of Hokkaido specialties. Book for the convenience of a simple included start, not for a destination breakfast.
There is no dinner restaurant at the hotel. The official FAQ points guests to surrounding restaurants, and the front desk does not make restaurant or activity reservations. Reserve high-demand dining yourself.
What to know
The lounge is useful for your own laptop
The first-floor JR Inn Lounge operates from 10:00 to midnight and can be used for reading, resting or working on a laptop. This is a practical buffer after checkout or between sightseeing plans, but it is a shared lounge rather than a private coworking office.
The hotel ended its computer corner, rental-computer, paid copy and fax services on March 31, 2025. Bring your own device and do not rely on older listings that still show a guest PC.
Free Wi-Fi and wired LAN are available, but the official FAQ says heavy data use may be restricted. Creators uploading large video files should use their own tested connection or allow time for slower transfers.
What to know
Children are allowed, but the bed-sharing rule matters
Klook states that children of all ages are welcome. The hotel’s own FAQ provides the booking detail: a child up to age six may share an adult’s bed free, a child using a separate bed pays the adult rate, and the adult rate applies from age seven.
The hotel also warns that third-party reservation conditions can differ. Enter the child’s real age on Klook, check whether breakfast is included for the child and confirm that the room’s occupancy permits the selected adult-child combination.
Do not solve a capacity error by omitting a child from the reservation. Obtain written confirmation from Klook or the property when the platform’s room card and the hotel rule do not align.
What to know
All guest rooms are now non-smoking
The hotel ended smoking-room stays after November 2, 2025. Current guest rooms should therefore be treated as non-smoking, while a shared smoking space remains on the first floor.
This dated operator notice is more reliable than old room inventories or reviews that mention smoking rooms. If Klook displays an old smoking label, stop and ask the booking service to identify the current room rather than assuming the hotel reversed its policy.
Travelers sensitive to smoke should remember that a designated common smoking area still exists and ask about its position relative to the lounge or room route if necessary.
What to know
Check-in, luggage and the midnight door
Standard check-in begins at 15:00 and checkout is by 10:00. The official FAQ says early check-in may be possible from 12:00 for ¥1,000 per hour, while late checkout can be extended to 12:00 for ¥1,000 per hour. Both require advance contact and availability.
The hotel asks guests to call if arriving after midnight. The front entrance is locked after midnight for security, and registered guests use a card key to enter. A delayed flight does not remove the need to protect the reservation.
Luggage storage is limited to the check-in and checkout days. Valuables, fragile items and refrigerated or frozen items require special attention. This is not a multi-day storage service between separate stays.
What to know
Laundry exists, but capacity is small
The official FAQ lists two washing machines and two dryers on the first floor; detergent dispenses automatically. That is limited capacity for a station hotel, so do not leave all laundry until the night before an early train.
The hotel also offers outside laundry or dry-cleaning on operating days: items delivered before 09:00 are normally returned after 18:00. The service can be unavailable on certain dates.
On August 30, 2026, the hotel specifically suspends the outside laundry service because of Hokkaido Marathon traffic. The on-site coin machines and the outsourced service are different; ask the front desk what remains available that day.
What to know
Construction can affect a quiet-room decision
JR Inn Sapporo warns that Hokkaido Shinkansen extension work and wider station-area redevelopment are occurring around the hotel, including in front of the main entrance. The notice says construction noise and traffic restrictions can occur, including at night, and gives an approximate period through 2030.
That is not a short renovation footnote. If daytime sleep, a high-stakes remote meeting or a quiet recording environment matters, ask the hotel for the latest work schedule and whether a quieter room position can be requested. A request is not guaranteed.
The tradeoff is location: the same station access that makes the hotel convenient also places it close to a large, changing transport district.

August 30, 2026 needs a special arrival plan
For the Hokkaido Marathon on Sunday, August 30, 2026, the hotel says surrounding roads will be closed roughly 10:00–15:00, taxis and shuttle vehicles cannot enter the immediate area, and the road directly east of the property will be part of the course.
The pedestrian crossing on the east side is also expected to close during that period. Travelers walking between Sapporo Station and the hotel must detour to the crossing by Asty 45, one block south. Wider city restrictions are expected from around 06:00 to 15:30 and can change with race conditions.
Do not plan a curbside pickup at the hotel during the restriction. Arrive on foot with manageable luggage, allow extra time and check both the hotel notice and official marathon update on the day.
What to know
Add the 2026 Sapporo and Hokkaido accommodation tax
Stays in Sapporo from April 1, 2026 are subject to combined city and Hokkaido accommodation tax per person per night. The current combined amount is ¥300 when the taxable accommodation price is below ¥20,000, ¥400 from ¥20,000 to below ¥50,000, and ¥1,000 at ¥50,000 or more.
The bracket uses the room-only taxable amount assigned to each guest, with meals, consumption tax and qualifying extras excluded. A generic marketplace warning of ¥100–¥10,000 is not the Sapporo calculation.
Inspect the final booking breakdown to see whether the correct local tax is prepaid or collected at the hotel. Multiply by both taxable guests and nights when building the stay budget.
What to know
How to compare Klook with the official rate
Enter the real dates, guest count and child ages. Match the exact room, bed width, smoking status, breakfast, payment timing and cancellation deadline; then add any accommodation tax not collected by the seller.
The official FAQ says direct guests pay at check-in and that the property accepts cash, credit cards and some electronic money but not gift or debit cards. A prepaid Klook rate has its own payment method, so do not assume the hotel’s on-site debit restriction describes Klook checkout.
Use the paid link below when the West Gate location and simple breakfast outweigh the construction and compact-room tradeoffs. Compare Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo if a public bath and more room-layout choices matter more; compare Hotel Gracery if south-side station access is the priority.
