Hotel Vischio Kyoto: Rooms, Public Bath and 2027 Closure

What to know

The two-minute location is on the Hachijo side of Kyoto Station

The hotel places itself about two minutes south of Kyoto Station’s Hachijo Exit. This is the Shinkansen and airport-bus side of the station, not the north-facing Central Exit used for Kyoto Tower. Saving the correct exit matters because the station is large and crossing it with luggage adds time.

The location is strong for a late Shinkansen arrival, an early Haruka airport train, day trips and a multi-city itinerary. The hotel publishes approximate airport journeys of 75 minutes on the Haruka from Kansai Airport, 90 minutes by Kansai Airport limousine bus and 55 minutes by limousine bus from Itami, before delays and waiting.

It is less atmospheric than a Gion or Higashiyama base. Many temple areas still need rail, subway or bus travel. Choose it for transport efficiency and hotel facilities rather than because every major sight is within a two-minute walk.

What to know

Do not confuse it with Hotel Granvia inside the station

The full booking name is Hotel Vischio Kyoto by GRANVIA, and it belongs to the JR West Hotels group. It is a separate property south of the station at 44-1 Kamitonodacho—not Hotel Granvia Kyoto inside the station building.

Use the exact hotel name and address for taxi, luggage delivery and reservation searches. A rate, breakfast venue or amenity at Hotel Granvia does not automatically apply here merely because the brand relationship is visible.

The official Hotel Vischio site should control property facilities. Klook’s generic recommendation label mentions a shuttle, but the hotel’s access page sells the walkable station position and does not publish a hotel shuttle. Do not wait for one without direct confirmation.

What to know

Choose the room by party size and luggage

Moderate Double and Moderate Twin rooms are both 21.5 square metres for one or two guests. They provide a functional station stay but are not interchangeable: select the Double for one shared bed or the Twin when separate beds matter, then inspect the selected rate’s bed dimensions and layout.

The Superior Twin is 28.8 square metres and permits one to three guests. The purpose-built Triple is 26.2 square metres for two or three. Compare their actual three-person bed configuration rather than assuming the larger room always supplies three equivalent fixed beds.

The 39.5-square-metre Family Room is the published three-to-four-person option. Deluxe Twin is 38.7 square metres for one or two, while Universal Twin is 43.6 square metres for one or two. A higher floor area does not change the maximum occupancy in the official table.

What to know

Every room has a washing-area bathroom

The hotel says all rooms separate the washbasin and toilet and provide a bathroom with a washing area. That is useful for families and travelers who prefer a Japanese-style wet area without relying on the shared bath.

Do not interpret the separate layout as a private onsen. The in-room bath uses ordinary hotel water unless the operator explicitly states otherwise, and no such natural-hot-spring claim appears on the current official room pages.

All rooms are non-smoking, with a designated smoking booth in the building. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is published, but no official speed, upload performance or work-call guarantee is provided.

What to know

The public bath is useful, but it is not an onsen

The second-floor public bath has a six-by-three-metre main tub and 16 washing stations. Men have a dry sauna and cold-water bath; women have a mist sauna. Hours are 06:00–10:00 and 15:00–25:00 for registered guests.

The official page calls this a public bath and does not identify natural hot-spring water. Book for the space, washing stations and sauna—not for an onsen experience. Bring the towel from the room; nightwear and slippers are permitted.

The hotel’s public pages reviewed on July 26, 2026 do not publish a tattoo policy. Do not infer permission or refusal from another JR hotel. Send the size and placement to the property and get a written answer before choosing a rate based on bath access.

What to know

The lounge is a convenience, not a guaranteed coworking office

The guest-only first-floor lounge operates from 06:00–23:00. It provides complimentary coffee and tea, free Wi-Fi, tourism materials, a PC, printer, tablet, USB ports and AC power.

This is genuinely useful while planning a day, printing a document or doing light laptop work. It does not establish a reservable desk, quiet phone booth, ergonomic chair or meeting-room privacy. Conversations and visitor traffic are part of a shared lounge.

For critical calls or large creator uploads, confirm room connectivity and keep a mobile-data backup. Complimentary drinks are coffee and tea, not a full meal, alcohol service or 24-hour refreshment promise.

What to know

Breakfast is substantial and priced accordingly

Vischio Garden serves its current buffet from 06:30–11:00, with last entry at 10:30. The operator highlights Kyoto ingredients, a live-cooked steak, Saikyo-miso gratin, seafood rice, seasonal fruit and other rotating Japanese and Western dishes.

The current public price is ¥4,500 for an adult, ¥2,250 for ages three through 12, and free for age two and under, tax included. Menus and origins can change, and excluded dates exist. Decide whether the buffet earns its cost on a morning when an early train or temple visit may limit the time available.

A breakfast-included Klook rate is not proof that a bed-sharing child eats free. Klook currently says children age zero through five sharing a bed are excluded from included breakfast, with age zero to two free and age three to five charged ¥2,250 at the hotel. Enter every child and verify the final meal treatment.

What to know

Bed sharing is one young child per adult on Klook

Klook currently allows a child age zero through five to share an existing bed without a room charge, limited to one such child per adult. Children above the property’s adult threshold or anyone needing a separate bed must be entered accordingly.

That rule does not override the room’s maximum occupancy or make a 21.5-square-metre Moderate room comfortable for every permitted family. A couple with two children should compare the Family Room and its actual beds rather than forcing a lower room category.

Confirm cots, bed guards, children’s amenities and public-bath supervision directly because the official public room overview does not guarantee them. A family’s correct Klook search must include all real ages.

What to know

Same-day luggage storage supports a station itinerary

The hotel says it stores luggage free before check-in and after checkout on the same day, using its self-locker room or hotel process. This makes an arrival sightseeing day or departure-day visit easier.

Same-day storage is not permission to leave bags overnight, send them without notice or store every oversized or valuable item. Confirm parcel delivery, large baggage, refrigerated items and collection deadlines before travel.

Keep passports, medication, electronics, money and fragile items with you. Save the reservation name exactly as booked so staff can match a delivered bag or voucher.

What to know

There is laundry and fitness, with practical limits

Paid self-service coin laundry is available beside the second-floor bath 24 hours a day. The public page does not publish machine count, price, detergent, cycle time or live availability, so do not schedule the only clean outfit around an unconfirmed late-night machine.

The guest-only fitness room runs 06:00–24:00 and has two treadmills, two types of bike and dumbbells from 2–20 kilograms. Guests must bring their own shoes and towel, staff are not stationed there, and anyone under 15 is not permitted.

These facilities add value to a multi-night stay, but neither turns the property into a serviced apartment or full gym.

What to know

Kyoto City tax can add up quickly after March 2026

For stays from March 1, 2026, Kyoto City charges per person per night by the room-only amount before meals and consumption tax: under ¥6,000 costs ¥200; ¥6,000 to under ¥20,000 costs ¥400; ¥20,000 to under ¥50,000 costs ¥1,000; ¥50,000 to under ¥100,000 costs ¥4,000; and ¥100,000 or more costs ¥10,000.

The hotel says online prices exclude this tax and it is paid at the property. A room total must be allocated per person under the city calculation rather than compared directly with the band as one undivided room price.

Check the final Klook property-pay notice and budget the official band. These rates were confirmed on the hotel and Kyoto City information on July 26, 2026.

What to know

The hotel closes on January 14–15, 2027

For mandatory electrical inspection, the hotel has announced a closure from 12:00 on Thursday, January 14, 2027 until 06:00 on Friday, January 15. The full power outage is scheduled from 13:00–18:00 on January 14, stopping lifts, lighting, air conditioning and other electrical equipment.

Breakfast will not operate on January 15. The hotel also publishes a backup closure from February 18 at 12:00 through February 19 at 06:00 if weather prevents the January work.

Do not accept inventory covering those periods without written clarification from the booking channel. A Klook search result or automated availability display should not override the dated operator notice.

What to know

There is no hotel parking

The property has no dedicated parking and recommends public transport. Drivers must use an independent nearby coin lot, whose availability, maximum charge, vehicle limits and overnight rules are not controlled by the hotel.

The lack of parking is usually acceptable because the Hachijo Exit, Shinkansen, airport buses and city transport are close. It is a poor fit for a guest who needs guaranteed onsite parking or repeated car access.

Do not interpret a map showing nearby parking as a hotel entitlement, validated rate or reservable space.

What to know

Klook and direct cancellation rules are separate

The hotel’s standard official rule lists 20% of the room charge on the day before arrival, 80% on the arrival day and 100% for a no-show. A specific direct plan can differ, and none of those terms automatically controls a Klook purchase.

Klook can sell prepaid, flexible and restrictive rates for the same room. Enter dates and all guests, then record the exact room, beds, meals, child charges, payment timing, property tax and cancellation deadline on the selected rate.

Compare the same total with direct booking. The hotel advertises its own site as best rate, while Klook may offer a useful USD checkout or separate promotion. Neither claim replaces an all-in comparison on identical terms.

What to know

Final booking sequence

First, decide whether a station-side base is more valuable than a neighborhood stay. Second, select the official room capacity and bed layout: Moderate for one or two, Superior or Triple for three, and Family for four.

Then price breakfast, Kyoto City tax and every child correctly. Confirm tattoos, accessibility, cot or bed-guard needs and delivery questions before paying. Exclude the January 2027 closure and its February backup date.

After booking, save the complete property name, Hachijo Exit route, voucher, same-day luggage process and the selected rate’s cancellation deadline. Recheck official notices before arrival.
