The location works for both rail arrival and the historic waterfront
The official hotel page places the property four minutes on foot from JR Hakodate Station, five minutes from the bus terminal and about one minute from Hakodate Morning Market. That makes an early train, airport bus or market breakfast easier than staying farther into the Bay Area.
The same page gives roughly 15 minutes on foot to the Bay Area and Motomachi. These are orientation estimates, not promises for winter pavement, luggage or an uphill route.
This is a practical station-and-market base rather than a Yunokawa resort. Choose it when transport and laundry matter more than spending the whole stay inside a traditional hot-spring district.
What to know
Every room has laundry, but only selected rooms have a kitchenette
The official room guide lists a washer-dryer, microwave, refrigerator and shoe dryer across the room range. That is valuable after snow, rain or several days of Hokkaido travel and avoids waiting for a shared coin laundry.
The 16 m² Comfort Double, 19 m² Standard Double and 21 m² Hollywood Twin list a microwave but not a kitchenette. The 19 m² Standard Twin, 33 m² Corner Twin and 34 m² Luxury Twin list a kitchenette for light preparation.
Do not rely on the hotel overview’s broad wording that all rooms have a kitchenette. Match the icon and equipment list for the exact room Klook offers, then confirm cookware if it matters.
What to know
Room size and bed layout change the value
The official Comfort and Standard Double rooms use one 1,600 × 2,000 mm bed in 16 m² and 19 m² rooms. The Hollywood Twin is 21 m² with two 1,100 × 2,000 mm beds, while the Standard Twin places the same bed size in 19 m² with a kitchenette.
The 33 m² Corner Twin sleeps two to three and lists two 1,100 × 2,000 mm beds, a kitchenette and separate bath and toilet. Confirm how the third guest sleeps and what charge applies in the selected rate.
The 34 m² Luxury Twin is for two guests, uses 1,200 × 2,000 mm beds and adds a private semi-open-air hot-spring bath. Paying for a room with private onsen makes sense only if the final room name explicitly includes that feature.
What to know
The communal onsen is a hotel facility, not a private bath
Akari no Yu is a gender-separated communal natural hot spring on the 18th floor with open-air bathing and views toward Hakodate Bay. The current official hours are 15:00–01:00 and 05:00–11:00.
The water is described as a sodium-chloride spring that is supplemented with water, heated, circulated and filtered. A 17th-floor guest lounge is currently open 05:00–01:00 for resting and views.
The English hotel page does not publish a tattoo rule, detailed child-bathing rule or a guarantee that every bath and view is continuously available. Contact the property before booking if any of those points determine whether the stay works.
What to know
Breakfast is a market voucher rather than a hotel buffet
Breakfast-inclusive guests take a ticket to participating restaurants in Hakodate Morning Market, about one minute from the hotel. From April 1, 2025, the official price is ¥2,400 including tax, with 19 participating shops and more than 65 listed choices.
Choices include seafood bowls, sashimi and grilled-fish meals, but menus and participating stores can change. Service begins from 06:00 and closing time varies by restaurant.
This format gives more local choice than a fixed buffet, but it is less predictable for allergies, vegetarian diets, queues or a tightly timed departure. Check the current restaurant list and ask for written dietary confirmation.
What to know
Longer stays use request-based housekeeping
For multiple-night stays, the official room policy provides simple cleaning on request by placing the notice outside the door. It covers towel, bathmat and nightwear replacement plus emptying the trash.
A full room cleaning is provided once a week for stays of seven nights or more. Extra cleaning and bed-making can be available for a fee under Tokyu Stay’s current user guide.
This is a serviced-apartment-style trade-off rather than daily full housekeeping. Request service within the hotel’s stated time and use the washer-dryer for clothing, not hotel linens.

Hakodate accommodation tax changed on April 1, 2026
Hakodate City and Hokkaido both began accommodation tax on April 1, 2026. The city’s official combined schedule is ¥200 per person per night below ¥20,000, ¥400 from ¥20,000 to under ¥50,000, ¥1,000 from ¥50,000 to under ¥100,000 and ¥2,500 at ¥100,000 or more.
The band uses the taxable accommodation charge per person per night, not simply the whole reservation total. A reservation made before the start date is still taxable when the stay falls on or after April 1, 2026.
Klook’s generic mandatory-fee text can show a broader city-tax range that does not reproduce Hakodate’s official bands. Use the city source, then confirm whether the marketplace total includes the tax or the front desk collects it.

The hot spring can also create bathing tax
Hakodate separately reduced its ordinary bathing tax to ¥100 per person per day while the accommodation tax is imposed. The city exempts children under 15 and lists other statutory categories.
Accommodation tax and bathing tax are different charges. A low room rate can still carry both when the guest uses a taxable hot-spring facility.
Ask the hotel how the bathing tax applies to the selected room, guest age and rate, and whether it appears in Klook’s total or is collected at check-in.
What to know
Parking is limited and its published price is old
The hotel’s official English page lists 38 affiliated parking spaces, first come first served, with no advance reservation. It displays ¥1,000 from 15:00 to 11:00 the next day.
That same page warns that the parking fee and route information are current only as of July 1, 2021. Treat ¥1,000 as an unverified displayed reference and confirm the current charge directly before driving.
Rail is simpler for a stay focused on the station, market, trams and waterfront. A car becomes more useful for destinations beyond central Hakodate, but winter driving adds weather and parking risk.

Read cancellation and payment rules for that exact rate. Add combined accommodation tax and possible bathing tax, then ask whether either is already included.
Save the station route, market breakfast list and onsen hours. Confirm tattoo access, children’s communal-bath use, temporary maintenance, parking and luggage storage directly when any is essential.
