The 350 m Deck is the essential experience

Tokyo Skytree’s Tembo Deck occupies three indoor levels at 350, 345 and 340 metres. It already provides the tower’s broad 360-degree panorama, large windows, a café, restaurant, shop and the glass floor on the 340 m level. A first-time visitor does not need the higher ticket to see Tokyo from the tower.

Choose Deck-only when budget, a short itinerary or a mixed-interest group matters more than reaching the maximum height. Allow roughly 60–90 minutes, including the entrance process and elevators. The attraction publishes no standard time limit once inside, but the building’s daily closing time still controls the visit.

Both observation areas are enclosed behind glass. Travelers specifically seeking an open-air rooftop, wind or reflection-free photography should compare a different viewpoint before purchasing.

What the 450 m Tembo Galleria adds

The Galleria begins when a separate elevator takes visitors from the 350 m Deck to level 445. A gently rising, glass-sided spiral continues to level 450 and the 451.2 m Sorakara Point, the highest point on the public route.

The extra value is the height, the skywalk-like spiral and the satisfaction of reaching the tower’s top visitor level. It does not introduce an outdoor deck, and the geography below does not become an entirely different city. Allow about 90–120 minutes for the combined visit.

The famous glass floor is on the 340 m Tembo Deck, not at 450 m. Visitors with a mild fear of heights can walk around that floor panel. The Galleria’s sloping route is harder to avoid once the upgrade journey has begun.

Buy the combo in advance if the Galleria matters

A Deck-only visitor can usually buy a Galleria ticket on the 350 m level, but sales may pause when the upper area is congested. The official current add-on price is ¥1,400 for an adult and ¥700 for a child, while the normal difference between advance base prices is ¥1,200 and ¥600 respectively.

That makes a pre-booked combo both cheaper at the standard minimum and safer when reaching Sorakara Point is the reason for visiting. Choose Deck-only deliberately when the higher level is optional rather than relying on an on-site upgrade.

After leaving the Galleria for the lower Deck, visitors cannot re-enter it. After exiting the attraction, re-entry to either observation area is not allowed.

Prices now vary by visit date

Tokyo Skytree introduced date-variable admission for visits from April 1, 2026. The official web minimum is ¥1,800 for an adult and ¥900 for a child for the Tembo Deck, or ¥3,000 and ¥1,500 for the Deck and Galleria combo. Busy dates can cost substantially more.

Buying at the fourth-floor counter or ticket machine adds a ¥500 issuance fee per paid ticket to the relevant web price. Use the live calendar rather than copying a cached “from” price into the trip budget. Children aged five and under and a six-year-old who has not yet started elementary school are generally free.

The public price page describes adult as age 15 and over and child as ages 6–14, while the official English sales FAQ currently says 16 and over is adult based on age on the admission date. A 15-year-old traveler should enter the true date of birth in the live checkout and ask the operator if the displayed category remains unclear.

Timed entry, QR admission and late arrival

Advance tickets use a 30-minute arrival window. Entry before the reserved slot is generally not allowed. Plan to reach the fourth-floor main entrance 10–15 minutes early because the station exit is not the observation-deck gate and a security check comes before the elevators.

Since March 2, 2026, the operator’s ordinary web tickets use a QR code for direct entry without exchanging it for a paper ticket. A phone screen, saved screenshot or printed QR can be used. Klook buyers should still follow the final voucher’s How to Use section because restaurant and other special packages can use different redemption instructions.

A visitor who misses the slot may be admitted later on the same date by joining the end of the line for the time then being processed, but the wait can be long. Treat this as recovery from an unexpected delay, not permission to choose a different arrival time.

Opening and final-entry times change by date

Tokyo Skytree does not have one dependable daily timetable for every travel date. On July 26, 2026, the official calendar lists 09:00–22:30 with final entry at 21:30, while other current dates close at 22:00 or use later morning openings. Special operations can split or shorten the day.

Open the operator’s daily calendar for the exact date before fixing dinner, trains or another timed attraction. Final entry is not a recommended arrival time: elevators, security and the desired light conditions all need a buffer.

A morning visit is generally the lowest-risk choice for smaller crowds and clearer long-distance views. A sunset visit can combine daytime, dusk and night, but the desirable slots, windows and elevators are usually busier.

The view is never guaranteed

The observation decks are indoors and can remain useful in rain, but cloud, haze and window reflections can remove the long view. The official ticket FAQ says poor visibility caused by rain or cloud does not qualify for a refund or discount.

Winter’s drier clear mornings often give the best chance of distant Mount Fuji; humid summer days commonly produce more haze. These are planning tendencies, not a visibility promise. Check the current forecast and live tower information close to the visit.

Strong wind or another safety issue can stop high-level elevator service. If the operator closes or limits the facility, follow its official notice and the refund instructions for the channel used to buy the ticket.

Current 2026 Chiikawa feature requires the Galleria

Chiikawa Starry Skytree and Secret Island is scheduled from July 10 through October 31, 2026. Decorations and limited activities extend through the observation areas, with the central special-event route on Galleria levels 445–450.

A visitor traveling within those dates who is booking specifically for the Chiikawa experience should choose a ticket that includes the Tembo Galleria. A Deck-only ticket does not unlock the full event area, and on-site upgrades can pause during congestion.

The collaboration is temporary and merchandise or activities can sell out. Travelers after October 31 should check the current official event page rather than expect the same decoration from an older photograph.

Use Oshiage or Tokyo Skytree Station

The official address is 1-1-2 Oshiage, Sumida City. Oshiage (Skytree) Station connects the Hanzomon, Toei Asakusa, Keisei and Tobu lines; the operator’s indoor route from basement level three to the fourth-floor entrance takes about seven minutes. It is the practical choice in poor weather or for a step-free route.

Tokyo Skytree Station on the Tobu Skytree Line takes about six to seven minutes from its exits to the observation-deck entrance. Marketplace wording such as “one minute from the station” describes reaching the large Skytree Town complex, not completing the route to fourth-floor admission.

Asakusa and Sensoji combine naturally with the tower. Tobu runs one stop between Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree Station, while walking via the Sumida River area can form a longer half-day. Confirm the exact rail service and station exit in a navigation app.

Wheelchair and family planning

The official route supports manual and powered wheelchairs, with elevators between Deck levels and a lift-and-ramp route through the Galleria. Accessible toilets are available on the observation levels, and recognized assistance dogs may enter.

A limited number of wheelchairs and strollers can be borrowed without advance reservation. Limited availability makes a personal essential mobility device safer than relying on a loan. Eligible disability tickets cover the document holder and the same number of companions; check accepted evidence directly when using overseas documentation.

Families should use the baby-care facilities before going up when possible and verify the current floor map on arrival. The glass floor can be bypassed, and the principal visit remains indoors, but elevator queues and a long sunset visit can still challenge very young children.

Do not bring a large suitcase upstairs

The operator prohibits luggage with any side longer than 60 cm and objects that obstruct movement. Paid lockers are available around the fourth floor and Tokyo Solamachi, and a paid Sagawa baggage service operates in the complex, but capacity and acceptance are not guaranteed.

Store flight luggage at the hotel or another confirmed facility before traveling to Oshiage. A timed ticket does not protect the entry slot while the visitor searches for an available large locker.

Admission includes a bag check. Keep the QR code, phone and camera easy to reach, and avoid arriving at the exact beginning of the 30-minute window with unpacked bags.

Food and drinks have limits

Outside food is generally not allowed in the observation areas. A closable plastic bottle can be carried, while open cups create a spill risk and may be refused. Confirm exceptions for infant food, allergies or medical needs with staff.

The Deck has cafés on levels 350 and 340, a restaurant on 345 and a shop. There is no ordinary drink vending machine in the observation area, so buy or refill before the elevators if a café queue would disrupt the plan.

Restaurant 634 and promotional food packages are separate products with their own reservation, age, dress and redemption rules. Do not assume an observation-deck admission package includes a meal.

What to know

Photography works best with simple equipment

Personal photography is allowed when it does not block circulation or invade another visitor’s privacy. Non-folding tripods are prohibited, and staff can stop use of even compact equipment when it takes space or creates a hazard. A handheld phone or camera is the most dependable setup.

At night, wear dark clothing and bring the lens close to the glass to reduce internal reflections without pressing or attaching equipment to the window. The view remains through glass; a serious architectural shoot requiring unrestricted supports needs separate planning.

Drones, live commercial production and other commercial or media work are not covered by an ordinary ticket. Creators should contact the operator in advance for permission rather than treating personal-camera rules as a filming licence.

The official site is clearer for exact yen pricing, disability admission, operator cancellation rules and official Enjoy Pack combinations. Compare the same Deck or combo, date, time and ages at the final checkout rather than comparing unlike headline prices.

Klook’s cancellation policy can change by selected package; some combinations are explicitly non-cancellable. Read the policy shown for the actual package before paying. An official direct ticket also cannot be changed simply by editing the time—its published process can require cancellation and repurchase.

A low-risk Skytree plan

Choose the Deck-only or combo experience first, then reserve the exact date and 30-minute entry window. Save the QR code offline, store large luggage and check the daily hours and weather on the morning of the visit.

Arrive at Oshiage or Tokyo Skytree Station early enough to reach the fourth-floor entrance 10–15 minutes before the slot. Complete security, take the elevators to 350 m, and use the Galleria next if it is included because return entry is not possible.

Finish through the 345 and 340 m Deck levels, including the glass floor if desired, and leave time for elevator queues. Pair Skytree Town with Asakusa, the aquarium or Solamachi without placing another strict reservation immediately after an open-ended sunset visit.
