What to know
Choose between four festival formats
The official 2026 program is not one continuous performance. Each format has a separate venue, time and ticket decision. Information below was checked on August 7, 2026.
- August 11 — Suguribi at ASTY Tokushima: 12:00, 15:30 and 19:00; about 80 minutes; doors open one hour before each show.
- August 12–15 — Matsuribi at Awagin Hall: 11:00, 13:30 and 16:00; about 70 minutes; doors open 30 minutes before each show.
- August 12–15 — paid outdoor venues at Aibahama, Minami-Uchimachi and Konyamachi: first session 18:00–19:40 and second session 20:20–22:00, with an audience change between sessions.
- August 12–15 — free venues at Ryogoku Honmachi and Shinmachibashi: 18:10–22:00; additional dance squares operate 18:00–22:00.
What to know
Ticket prices depend on the venue and seat
For Suguribi on August 11, advance prices are ¥5,000 for special reserved seating, ¥3,800 for S seats and ¥2,800 for A seats. For Matsuribi on August 12–15, advance prices are ¥4,500 for SS, ¥3,500 for S and ¥2,800 for A.
At the paid outdoor venues, listed advance prices range from ¥1,000 for a C unreserved seat to ¥6,000 for an SS seat. Minami-Uchimachi also has a ¥15,000 special viewing seat. Konyamachi's second session on August 13 is listed as all-unreserved at ¥2,000. Children age three and older require a ticket.
General sales opened at 10:00 on July 1 through the official ticket routes. A listed price does not prove that inventory remains: open the current selector and verify the exact date, session, venue and seat before payment.
What to know
A free venue is a valid plan, not a paid-seat substitute
Ryogoku Honmachi and Shinmachibashi are official free performance venues. They are useful if paid sessions are sold out or if you prefer a flexible evening, but they do not provide an assigned seat or the same controlled sightline as a paid viewing stand.
Decide in advance whether a guaranteed seat matters. If it does, secure a paid ticket before committing to a train. If flexibility matters more, save the free-venue locations and arrive with enough time to handle street congestion and access controls.
What to know
Central venues are walkable from JR Tokushima Station
The organizer lists Aibahama at about five minutes on foot from JR Tokushima Station, Minami-Uchimachi at about 12 minutes and Konyamachi at about 15 minutes. Awa Navi also places the main city-center venues within roughly five to 15 minutes of the station.
For an airport arrival, use Tokushima Awaodori Airport's current access page to compare the limousine bus, route bus, taxi and rental-car options. The airport says its limousine and route buses accept ICOCA and the ten nationally interoperable transport IC cards, as well as supported contactless payments. Recheck the live timetable rather than planning from an old screenshot.
What to know
Heat, weather and crowd decisions belong in the day plan
August heat can remain dangerous into the evening. Check the Ministry of the Environment's current WBGT and Heat Stroke Alert page for Tokushima, carry water and build an indoor cooling break before the outdoor session. Do not use the festival start time as the time to begin the station walk.
The official schedule page reviewed on August 7 does not state one blanket rain, severe-weather or cancellation rule for every program. Check the organizer's latest notices on the day. If a session changes or is cancelled, follow the ticket issuer's instructions before buying a replacement.
What to know
Watch without blocking the dance route
Follow staff barriers and instructions, keep bags out of pedestrian flow and do not step into a performance lane for a photo. Ask before taking a close portrait of an individual, and do not assume that a festival setting removes normal photography restrictions.
