Before you book

Make these decisions in order.

  1. 01

Check the official date calendar because PayPay Dome games, concerts and maintenance can change opening hours.

  2. 02

Choose regular admission or a souvenir package only after comparing its final price with official admission.

  3. 03

Wear sneakers or other secure, flat shoes; heels, sandals and unstable footwear block access to many works.

  4. 04

Download and test the teamLab app before arrival if you want the full Catching and Collecting experience.

  5. 05

Store large luggage and strollers before reaching the fifth-floor entrance and use the restroom first.

What to know

This is the active teamLab, not the water-based one

teamLab Forest Fukuoka combines two concepts: Catching and Collecting Forest, where visitors use a phone to capture and release digital creatures, and Athletics Forest, where projected worlds respond to movement across three-dimensional surfaces.

It is different from teamLab Planets in Tokyo. There is no headline barefoot water route; instead, the Fukuoka venue asks visitors to wear stable shoes and physically negotiate slopes, stepping areas, bouncing surfaces and moving visual environments.

The result feels closer to an interactive indoor playground crossed with digital art than a conventional museum. Travelers wanting silent observation may prefer another gallery, while visitors who participate usually get more from the ticket.

What to know

Who will get the most value

Families with school-age children, couples who enjoy interactive photography and travelers already visiting the PayPay Dome area are the clearest fit. The indoor setting also makes it useful during rain, summer heat or a gap before an evening event.

Allow roughly 90 minutes to two hours. Klook suggests one to two hours, but app play, drawing and repeat interaction can extend the visit. Arriving near final entry is risky because the venue closes at 19:00 under the current standard timetable.

Do not travel across Fukuoka solely because the name teamLab is familiar without checking the works. The movement focus and access restrictions differ materially from teamLab Borderless and Planets.

What to know

Ticket prices vary by peak date

The official venue currently charges adults aged 16 and over ¥2,400 on regular dates and ¥2,700 on peak dates. High-school, university and vocational students pay ¥2,000 or ¥2,200, while children aged 4–15 pay ¥1,000 or ¥1,200. Children aged three and under enter free with a guardian.

The official availability calendar identifies regular and peak dates. Student-ticket holders must show student identification at the attraction reception, so an overseas student should carry a current physical or accepted digital ID.

Klook currently lists standard admission, admission with an original towel and summer-specific packages. Compare the selected date, age category and final USD total rather than treating the lowest visible promotional price as the universal ticket.

What to know

Klook tickets are date-specific and non-refundable

The current Klook voucher is valid only on its selected date and time where one is specified. It provides direct mobile-voucher entry and instant confirmation, but the listing says cancellations, refunds and changes are not permitted.

If the operator cancels for an unforeseen event or extreme weather, Klook currently offers rescheduling or a full refund. That operator-cancellation exception does not cover choosing the wrong day, missing the entry window or arriving in prohibited footwear.

The towel bundle has value only if you want that specific souvenir. The venue’s separate Sketch Factory can turn your drawing into paid items, so distinguish a bundled original towel from a personalized product made after the exhibit.

What to know

Stable shoes determine how much you can experience

The official venue warns that many works cannot be used in high heels, pointed heels, sandals, geta or other unstable shoes. The rooms are dark and include height differences and unstable footing.

Wear closed, flat sneakers with secure soles. A traveler who arrives in unsuitable shoes may still enter parts of the venue but cannot assume access to the movement-based works, and the ticket conditions do not promise a refund.

Long skirts and loose clothing also deserve practical consideration around active surfaces, even though the official rule focuses on footwear. Dress for movement rather than for a static photo studio.

What to know

Prepare the app before entering

Catching and Collecting Forest uses the teamLab app to capture a digital animal, study it in a collection and release it back into the space. The work can be seen without building a collection, but the phone interaction is central to its intended learning loop.

Download the current official app on Wi-Fi, grant only the permissions required for the experience and arrive with sufficient battery. Keep mobile data available in case an update or account step appears.

A power bank is useful but keep cables contained while moving. Do not walk while staring only at the screen; the floor changes and other visitors move unpredictably in the dark.

What to know

Accessibility restrictions are substantial

The official page says pregnant visitors, wheelchair or cane users, people who cannot walk independently and adults carrying a child cannot experience many areas for safety reasons. This is not equivalent to saying the entire building is inaccessible, but it means the admission ticket does not provide an equivalent route through every work.

Contact BOSS E・ZO FUKUOKA before buying if a visitor needs step-free circulation, seating, a mobility aid or a support person. Ask which named works are available, how companions are handled and whether an alternative exit is required.

There is no restroom or rest area inside the exhibition. Use the facilities before scanning the ticket, because re-entry is not allowed after leaving.

What to know

Children need active supervision

Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a guardian. One guardian may accompany up to three children, including children who enter free, and every non-free accompanying person needs a ticket.

Strollers cannot enter and must be left at the third-floor stroller area. Carrying a child also prevents participation in many works, so a toddler who will not walk independently can significantly limit the accompanying adult’s experience.

The venue is dark, stimulating and physically active. Agree on a meeting behavior before entry, keep small children within reach and do not treat projected boundaries as physical barriers.

What to know

Sensory effects and motion can be intense

The official warnings identify flashing or illuminated effects and loud sounds. Large moving projections, responsive floors and visual motion can also make some visitors feel disoriented even when a surface is stationary.

Visitors with photosensitivity, vertigo, motion sickness or sensory-processing concerns should review the works and contact the venue before purchasing a non-refundable ticket. Exit early if symptoms begin rather than forcing completion.

The experience is indoors, but it is not a passive shelter from bad weather for every traveler. Sensory suitability matters as much as rain protection.

What to know

Photography is personal and handheld

Personal photos and video are allowed without flash. Monopods, tripods, selfie sticks and other support equipment are prohibited, and unapproved commercial photography or reporting is not allowed.

Creators should contact the venue before planning monetized production. Buying a public ticket does not grant commercial filming rights, exclusive access or permission to obstruct an artwork.

Use a wrist strap, reduce screen brightness around other visitors and capture short clips without walking backward. The strongest images come from interaction, but safety takes priority over framing.

What to know

Luggage, food and re-entry rules

Items with a total length over 50 cm must be stored in paid lockers on the first or third floor. Do this before joining an entry queue; the fifth-floor attraction will not function as a luggage-storage counter.

Food, candy and gum are not allowed in the exhibition. The official prohibited-items wording permits capped plastic bottles and flasks while excluding open drinks, but visitors should follow staff instructions about when and where drinking is safe.

There is no re-entry. Finish restroom, food, locker and stroller arrangements before the voucher is scanned.

What to know

Getting there and avoiding event crowds

teamLab Forest is on the fifth floor of BOSS E・ZO FUKUOKA at 2-2-6 Jigyohama, next to Mizuho PayPay Dome. The published subway route is Exit 3 of Tōjinmachi Station followed by an approximately 15-minute walk.

A dome baseball game or concert can change area crowds, transport demand and the complex’s operating hours. Check both the teamLab date calendar and the dome event schedule before choosing an entry time.

For a game-day combination, visit teamLab early enough to finish without watching the clock. For a standalone visit, avoiding the pre-event arrival wave can make the station and surrounding restaurants easier.

What to know

A low-risk booking plan

First confirm that every visitor can use stable shoes and is comfortable with the mobility and sensory conditions. Then choose the date on the official calendar and compare the correct regular or peak price with Klook’s final total.

Buy only after accepting the no-change and no-refund rule. Download the app, save the voucher offline and plan lockers, stroller storage and the restroom before entry.

On the day, recheck the official hours because maintenance and PayPay Dome events can alter the timetable. Arrive with enough time for the exhibit and any Sketch Factory order before the separate final-order cutoff.
